About Kingfisher Airlines

Kingfisher Airlines is an airline group based in India. Its head office is Kingfisher House in Vile Parle (East), Mumbai. Kingfisher Airlines, through its parent company United Breweries Group, has a 50% stake in low-cost carrier Kingfisher Red.

Kingfisher Airlines is one of the only seven airlines awarded 5-star rating by Skytrax along with Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Hainan Airlines Kingfisher operates more than 375 daily flights to 71 destinations, with regional and long-haul international services. In May 2009, Kingfisher Airlines carried more than 1 million passengers, giving it the highest market share among airlines in India. Kingfisher also owns the skytrax award for India's best airliner of the year 2011.

Kingfisher Airlines is also the sponsor of F1 racing outfit, Force India, which Vijay Mallya also owns.

History

Kingfisher Airlines was established in 2003. It is owned by the Bengaluru based United Breweries Group. The airline started commercial operations in 9 May 2005 with a fleet of four new Airbus A320-200s operating a flight from Mumbai to Delhi. It started its international operations on 3 September 2008 by connecting Bengaluru with London.

On 7 June 2010 Kingfisher became a member elect of the Oneworld airline alliance when it signed a formal membership agreement. A firm date to join the alliance will be announced once the implementation process is underway, it possibly may take 18 to 24 months.

Destinations

Kingfisher Airlines serves 63 domestic destinations and 8 international destinations in 8 countries across Asia and Europe. Kingfisher's short haul routes are mostly domestic apart from some cities in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Western Asia. All short haul routes are operated on the Airbus A320 family aircraft. ATR 42s and ATR 72s are used mainly on domestic regional routes. Kingfisher has its medium, long-haul destinations in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Its first long haul destination was London, United Kingdom which was launched in September 2008. It has plans to launch new long haul flights to cities in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania with deliveries of new aircraft. All long haul routes are operated on the Airbus A330-200.

Air India’s fleet consists of thirty eight aircrafts. These include 12 Boeing 747-400, 1 Boeing 747-400, 2 Boeing 747-300, 19 Airbus 310-300, and 4 Boeing 777-200.

Jet Airways
Jet Airways is one of the premier private Domestic Airlines in India. Jet Airways operates over 320 flights daily to 43 destinations in India and currently controls about 40% of India's aviation market. Jet Airways became the first private airline of India to fly to international routes. Jet Airways has won many awards in recognition of standards of its service and has also received the ISO 9001:2000 standards certification for its In-flight Services and has set high standards for Domestic Airlines in India.

Jet Konnect:
et Airways Konnect is a new economy service airline of India’s best full service private airline – Jet Airways. It started operation on 9th may 2009 with eight aircraft (two Boeing 737-800s and Six ATRs). Jet Airways Konnect mainly operates flights for tier 2 cities like Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kochi, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Udaipur and Vadodara.

Kingfisher Airlines
Kingfisher Airlines is a private airline based in Bangalore, India. The airline is owned by Vijay Mallya. Kingfisher Airlines started its operations on May 9th, 2005 with a fleet of 4 Airbus A320 aircrafts. The airline currently operates on domestic destinations and is one of the most aggressive player among the airlines of India.

Indigo
Indigo presently has a fleet of four aircrafts and plans to expand its fleet and network in a phased manner. By the end of 2006, IndiGo is aiming at 6 aircrafts and 12 cities and has plans to expand its fleet to 15 by December of 2007. IndiGo has proposed to serve around 30 Indian cities with a fleet of 40 Airbus A-320s by 2010. IndiGo will have fleet of only one type of aircraft, the Airbus A-320 that has a capacity of 180 passengers.

Air Deccan
Air Deccan is the first airline in India to operate as full low cost carrier. It is a part of Deccan Aviation Private Limited, India's largest private heli-charter company.
Presently, Air Deccan covers 57 destinations in India, which is more than any other airline in India. Air Deccan has massive expansion plans.
